About Us

        Our Senior Pastor
As the Senior Pastor at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Friends Church, please allow me to introduce to you myself and my precious family.

My name is Jim Ogden. And I have been privileged to serve the Lord in full-time Christian ministry for 18 years. I have been the Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Friends Church for the last 9 years. I also serve our denomination as the Field Director of Church Planting in Eastern Europe.

My wife's name is Carol and we have been married now for 27 years. She is a very faithful and loyal partner and my best friend. We have three wonderful children: Josh, 25, Sarah, 23, and David, 18. Oh, yes, we have a dog named Gus!

I was raised in Martins Ferry, Ohio and Carol in Mt. Pleasant so we know the spiritual climate of the Ohio Valley quite well. It is our passion to build the Church of Jesus Christ with a spritual vitality that embraces the Word of God as the final authority in our lives.

That is why I extend to you a personal invitation to try us out on every Sunday morning at 10:45am throughout the year. We love you and Jesus loves you!

At Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Friends Church, our focus is
always on remaining Biblically based. To trust and obey the Lord in our everyday living. However, our spiritual complexity has changed significantly in the last few years.

We no longer just serve the community to grow a church but to be a very healthy body of believers which will in turn grow by itself. Thus, our primary issues of church health and church growth become these:

1)Who is our master?
2)What is our message?
3)What is our motive?

We try to offer people something they can't get anywhere else in life. Our times of worship are very special to us because we offer people an opportunity to focus on God. In the same manner, our ministries of discipleship are essential to the church because we offer people an opportunity to fortify their faith in the Living God.

It is this clear purpose that defines who we are and what we do best for the Lord. It builds morale and reduces frustration. Hopeflly, as you try us, you will also see that our church is not into programs but into building people which is what you desire for your life and the life of your family.
